Eurasiatique. Répartie de l'Irlande jusqu'à la Turquie et à l'Est de l'Oural. Répandue dans toute la France continentale. La chenille se développe principalement sur Populus, Salix et Betula, mais aussi sur Fraximus, Malus, Alnus. Le papillon s'observe aux abords des forêts humides jusqu'à 2000 m. Période de vol : Mai à Septembre. Espèce univoltine, avec parfois une seconde génération partielle, suivant les régions.(txt : papillons poitou charentes)

Eurasian. Distributed Ireland to Turkey and east of the Urals. Widespread throughout mainland France. The caterpillar grows mainly Populus, Salix and Betula, but also Fraximus, Malus, Alnus. The butterfly is found on the outskirts of the rainforest up to 2000 m. Flight Period: May to September. Univoltine, sometimes with a second partial generation, depending on the region (txt: butterflies Poitou Charentes).
